Highland Dancers

History:
Champion Dancer and accredited teacher Sue Relph was approached in early 2006 to begin Highland Dancing Classes under the Banner of the Redland Scottish & Celtic Society Inc. With just a few young lassies Sue began to impart her knowledge in one small corner of the practice hall beginning at the same time as band practice.

With very high dancing standards and some amazing talent the class now fills half the practice hall. To accommodate the ever increasing numbers lessons now commence at 6.00pm..

When performing the girls wear a Dress Tartan Dancers Kilt or a Tartan Aboyne of their own choosing. Many of the outfits have been made with the help Sue’s mum, kilt maker of renown, Mrs Ann Relph.

The Dancers perform at a variety of community and private functions both on their own and with the Pipe Band as part of the Society’s Entertainment Group

Highland Dancing is open to both sexes with boys as welcome as the girls. Student ages range from 4 years to senior and many of the pupils are already taking out prizes at competitions.
